Mickey Barron

Michael (Mickey) Barron has been chosen as the Rotary Student of the Month for December, 2017. Mickey is an Honors student at Suffield High School and challenges himself by taking many AP and Honors classes. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years.

Mickey is involved in many activities inside and outside of Suffield High School. He has been involved in our Morning Update Broadcast Production at Suffield High and was the Producer last year. Mickey is very involved in our Drama Program. He was the Costume Designer for “Wizard of Oz,” was a cameo actor in “Happy Daze” and had a lead role in “Almost, Maine.” He was also a crew member for the production of “Cinderella.” Mickey has also been involved in Unified Theater for several years and has been a member of the Varsity Boys’ Swim Team for the past three years. He has worked on the SHS Swat Team. Mickey enjoys being part of Suffield High’s Improv Club and a Robotics mentor.

Outside of Suffield High School, Mickey does the Audiovisual Technology for the Second Baptist Church Events. In addition, he has volunteered at Vacation Bible School and “Helping Hands” at the Second Baptist Church.  A Boy Scout for seven years, he completed his Eagle Scout Project last November. He designed, developed, built and led the construction of Suffield High School’s Morning Update Studio.

In his spare time, Mickey enjoys programming, photography and videography, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, camping, rock climbing and ice skating.

Mickey plans to attend college in the fall and would like to become a Certified Medical American Sign Language Interpreter. He would then like to go to medical school and become a doctor.
