Preparations for the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools (SFES) dinner dance auction gala to be held on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 6:00 pm are well under way and you can be part of the fun! This year’s theme is Fire and Ice and with lighting from Dave Camera’s Shoreline AV, a platinum sponsor, the ballroom at the Sheraton at Bradley promises to be magical. Chris Kellogg, of 94.7 WMAS Kellogg Krew fame, will handle the DJ/ emcee activities for the evening and auctioneer Tom DeCosma, will keep the bidding fast and furious during the live auction.

Mobile bidding for the silent auction items will be used for the first time and promises to be a lot of fun as the competition for the many desirable items heats up. Patriots tickets, jewelry, dinners, firetruck and police car rides to school as well as front row seats to graduation and concerts and a 6 month flower subscription to Feather & Bloom are just a few of the items that will be offered. Tickets are $90 and can be purchased on the SFES.org website beginning February 1st. Meal choices are a sea salt encrusted petit filet with chicken Florentine and wild rice or a vegetarian/gluten free meal of baked stuffed zucchini filled with vegetable quinoa. Seats are limited to the first 250 buyers and should you wish to sit with friends, entire tables of 10 or 12 can be reserved.

This year’s “Raise the Paddle” will seek to fund TouchIT interactive white boards for the high school and middle schools. The TouchIT boards represent the latest in classroom technology and a brief demonstration will be available on gala night as well as a link to explain how they work on our website.

The gala is an every other year major fundraiser for the SFES which has donated over $650,000 to support excellence in education in the Suffield Public Schools. In the past two years since the last gala, SFES has given grants of $37,000 to the schools.

Sponsorships are available at the following levels: Silver $100-499; Gold $500 – 999; Platinum $1000+. At the silver level, sponsors will get their names or company logo on the SFES website and in the auction item catalog; at the gold level, in addition to the silver benefits, your name/company logo will also be included in the slide show and at the platinum level, in addition to the aforementioned benefits, a custom drink will be named after you or your business and you will receive 2 gala tickets worth $180.

As of the time this article went to press, in addition to Shoreline AV, the additional platinum sponsors are Windsor Federal Bank (a perennial and enthusiastic supporter of the SFES), Safeguard Security and Surveillance Inc., and Pam Hardy Designs. Suffield Veterinary Hospital, another longtime supporter, is a gold sponsor. With the sponsor letters just recently sent out, we anticipate a healthy response. Should you wish to be a sponsor and did not receive a letter, you can sign up on the SFES website.

Lastly, if you would like to help make the auction a success and have an item or experience to donate, please let us know on the www.sfes.org website under the auction tab. The evening promises to be fun filled so get your tickets before space runs out!
