The Suffield Land Conservancy (SLC) will be holding its annual meeting through Zoom on Thursday, December 3. We will be reviewing our many activities in 2020, including our purchase of 23 acres directly across from Suffield High School that will become the John and Madeline McClean outdoor learning center and classroom. We will also feature Todd Mervosh as our guest speaker regarding invasive plant species in Connecticut. Todd, a Suffield resident and past president of the SLC, earned his PhD in agronomy/weed science at the University of Illinois in 1994. He spent the next 20 years at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in Windsor, conducting weed control research on a variety of crops and the management of invasive species. He has extensive knowledge of such invasives as oriental bittersweet, Japanese knotweed and stilt grass, mile-a-minute vine and swallowworts. Since he started his own consulting business in 2015, he has been working with growers and property managers about effective and environmentally sound plant management, including proper use of herbicides. Please join us for our annual meeting and Todd’s discussion.
