A Springfield newspaper photographer gets a close-up as Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans’ hearse rounds the Bridge Street corner. The procession traveled from Bradley Airport to North Adams, Mass., on April 14 for his funeral the next day. Many citizens and military groups lined the route to honor Evans, who was killed protecting the U. S. Capitol on April 2 and honored by President Biden on April 13. Suffield had set out flags along South Main Street, and the SFD’s giant flag was suspended over Bridge Street.
