Citizen Input Requested

The Town of Suffield will be receiving nearly $7M in funds as a result of the Federal government’s American Rescue Plan Act passed last year.   About $4.6M will go to the town, and another $2.3M goes directly to the schools.

I urge all town residents to participate in the process where the town and schools will decide how to use those funds.   The Boards of Selectmen and Education are both starting to make decisions on which programs and projects to fund.

Personally, I’d say that at least 20% of the funds should be directly applied to services to support those having the most trouble paying bills and needing social services.   Perhaps $1M or more should be designated for the Suffield Community Aid organization to distribute.
