Teacher Appreciation Week

Want to do something for your child’s special teacher and help the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools (SFES) at the same time? What better time than Teacher Appreciation Week which is May 2-6 this year. For a $20 donation to the Honor Thy Educator program, the SFES will provide the acknowledged teacher with an SFES mug filled with candy, delivered during the week of May 2 and a certificate of appreciation with your child’s name on it. Teachers who are being honored by more than one student will receive a gift card for each additional student. Your donation does double duty by not only honoring the teacher but helps enable the SFES to fund grants to the schools.

Despite the lack of fundraising these past two years, the SFES has contributed close to $30K in grants to the schools. At the beginning of the pandemic the school administration asked for and received $25K for Dreambox software and training which enabled them to provide online remote learning during the pandemic. Also, during the 2019/2020 school year, but prior to the pandemic, the SFES provided an additional roughly $3000 for flexible seating at the high school, a Swivl Tool which is a robotic platform used to record live presentations and stream real time video, an accessible kitchen and Raku ceramics. During the 2020/2021 school year the SFES contributed just shy of $1000 to composting at the high school and funding for coffee carts at Suffield Middle School, McAlister, and Spaulding which are used to teach business practices to students.
