Ashley Green

Congratulations to Ashley Greene who was chosen as the Rotary Student of the Month for April. Ashley is enrolled in our Suffield Regional Agriscience Program, where she earned her OSHA 10 Agriculture Certification in 2019. She has been a member of the National FFA Organization since 2018. Ashley is an honors student and a member of Suffield High School’s National Honor Society. She has also been a member of our cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams throughout her four years of high school. Ashley has earned her Connecticut State FFA Degree. She was the recipient of the Suffield High School Star Greenhand Award. She also received the First Place Individual Award for Connecticut Ag Business and Connecticut Livestock Evaluation.

As a member of the Suffield Regional Agriscience Officer Team, Ashley has run parliamentary correct meetings, has worked with staff and students to schedule and advertise events and activities, has recorded event reflections for future improvement and has maintained an accurate record of income and expenses from the FFA budget.

Ashley started her own business called, “Wreaths by Ashley.” She buys and utilizes materials to create inventory, sells products online and at farmers markets and manages her own income, expenses and taxes. Ashley has worked as a Connecticut state soccer referee, where she ensured fair and safe gameplay. Ashley has also worked with the United States Air National Guard, where she has learned information regarding military operations and maintains the core values of Integrity, Service and Excellence. She also worked as a sales associate at HomeGoods in Windsor.
Ashley volunteers her time at Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization in North Carolina as a Nest Leader. She helps to educate people about sea turtles, identifies and marks nesting sites and helps to lead hatchlings to the water in a safe and efficient manner. Ashley also volunteers as a “Phone Elf” with “Calls from the North Pole” where she helped to promote holiday cheer to students in the Suffield area. Lastly, Ashley has been a Candy Gram Runner, where she delivered gifts to members participating in the showcase.

Ashley plans to attend college in the fall to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree and her Master’s degree in Business Administration. Congratulations, Ashley!

Tiffany Tan

Congratulations to Tiffany Tan on being awarded the Rotary Student of the Month for May. Tiffany has been a member of our Library Advisory Board, where she worked closely with our school library media specialist to brainstorm ideas to promote reading among teens. She was instrumental as a library aide, where she has helped to undertake a massive redesign of the library, as well as creating many displays and training other teen volunteers. Tiffany was nominated by our library media specialist Alex Casinghino who wrote, “It gives me great pleasure to nominate Tiffany Tan for the Rotary Student of the Month. Tiffany is one of the kindest students I have had the privilege to teach. She is always willing to help out and is consistently welcoming to all students.” Mrs. Casinghino also stated, “Tiffany has led many workshops in the library and has always shown total dedication and kindness toward all her peers. Her compassionate and kind demeanor as well as her dedication to her community and peers truly exemplify Service-Before-Self.”

Tiffany is a member of our World Language Honor Society for her excellence in French. She has been a member of our Wildcat Advisory Group, where she helped to welcome incoming freshman to the high school and helped parents navigate their way around the high school during our Open House. Tiffany was chosen as the student representative for the 2023 Nutmeg Award Selection Committee. She will help to read and discuss potential nominees for the 2023 award. Tiffany has been a member of our varsity girls’ swimming and diving team throughout her four years of high school. She was also chosen as the captain of the swim team.

Tiffany has been a volunteer at New Day Church since 2017. She implements lesson plans and directs lesson activities with her students. She has also volunteered at the Gold Party for the Camera Foundation. Congratulations, Tiffany!

June

William Crozier

Congratulations to William Crozier, who was selected to be the Rotary Student for the Month for June. Will moved to Suffield High School from Norwalk High School in Iowa at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. He was awarded an academic letter during his first three years of high school in Iowa. In June of 2019, Will attended the Business Horizons Camp through Central College, which was selectively sponsored by Collins Aerospace. There he learned about various aspects of business by participating in leadership roles and leading team-building exercises.

Will is an honors student and a member of the National Honor Society. As a member of NHS, Will helped to raise money for the Burgdorf Clinic during Stuff the Stocking Drive. He also volunteered at Suffield High School’s Volleyball Marathon and at the Red Cross Blood Drive through NHS. Will has been active in the Interact Club, a Junior Rotary Club, where he helped to raise money by volunteering at the BBQ Chicken Dinner. He helped to lead the restoration of the fitness trail at Sunrise Park. While at Norwalk High School, Will was a member of the varsity basketball team, where he was chosen as Academic All-Conference. Will also coached youth teams in competitive basketball camps.

Will has received Awards in Excellence at Suffield High School for Physics, Pre-Calculus, and Spanish III/IV. He recently received the Daniel F. Sullivan Sportsmanship Award and the Suffield Sportsmen’s Association Jim Hixon Scholarship. Before moving to Suffield, Will was employed as a sales associate at The Norwalk Shop, working 15 hours per week.

In his spare time, Will enjoys reading, basketball, building vehicle models, music and video games. Congratulations, Will!
