Second Baptist Church has a new Senior Pastor! The Rev. Justin Cox comes to Suffield with his spouse, Lauren, and their two daughters. He received his theological education from both Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and Wake Forest University School of Divinity, where he earned his Master of Divinity.

The Rev. Justin Cox speaks to his new congregation at Second Baptist Church.

Before coming to Connecticut, Justin served churches in Vermont and his home state of North Carolina. He is an ordained minister affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, an advocate for women in ministry, and an ally for our brothers and sisters in the LGBTQIA+ community, as he sees all people being made in the imago dei (image of God). He listens, works, and stumbles in the hope of being an activist for needed conversations on racial repentance and reconciliation.

When not spending time with family, Justin enjoys reading, cooking/baking for neighbors and writing articles for such publications as Baptist News Global and Good Faith Media. He’s devoured every book by renegade Baptist preacher Will D. Campbell and light-heartedly claims Anthony Bourdain as his patron sinner.

Justin is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Ministry program at McAfee School of Theology.

All are invited to join us for his Installation Service on Sunday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m.
