The Suffield Board of Education has been recognized by the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) with this year’s CABE Board Leadership Award. The CABE Board Leadership Award is bestowed to Boards of Education that fulfill a minimum of twenty-two criteria in the areas of leadership/student achievement, professional development for Board members, policy development and implementation, community relations, and related organizational leadership. The Suffield Board of Education was one of ten districts across the state to receive this year’s Level I recognition. Simsbury, Rocky Hill, Bethany, Bloomfield, Cheshire, Plainville, Preston, Stratford and Westbrook were also recognized.

Since 1998, CABE has been recognizing local boards of education with the CABE Board Leadership Award. This award now qualifies the Suffield Board of Education for the Level II Board Distinction Award if they receive the Level I leadership award for a second time over the next three years. Chair Maureen Sattan and Melissa Finnigan will be accepting the district’s plaque on behalf of the Suffield Board of Education and Suffield Public Schools at the annual CABE/CAPSS Convention being held on November 18 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel.
