You may have noticed the small plant store, recently opened at the north end of the Village Market; small, yes, but mighty. It is called the Plant Lounge, and aptly named; it is cozy and attractive, filled with healthy, happy plants in every direction. From its beautiful tin ceiling to the soothing shade of its walls, it is a nurturing site that invites relaxation. The shop sells only house plants and other plant-related gear such as watering cans, pots, fertilizers, etc., and including some unusual collector plants that are hard to find.

The shop is owned by Tracey Trombley and her husband Charlie. They have worked together to get things up and running, but Tracey will be the on-site expert and salesperson. Many of the plants begin life in a greenhouse built by the Trombleys in their backyard; Tracey mixes her own plant-specific soil, with different mixtures for different families of plants. She also provides re-potting services, as well as workshops which will begin sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas–“Houseplants 101,” she says with a warm smile. Finally, she provides gift wrapping on request; she’s thought of everything.

In the past (before COVID) Tracey worked as a medical office manager, and during COVID she was employed by Farmtek, a company that sells farm buildings and supplies. Somewhere in the period when we were all isolated, with plenty of time to dream new dreams, what started as a hobby for her turned into a full-fledged career, and the passion she feels for this new opportunity is in the air. The shop, called The Plant Lounge, is open Wednesday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.; on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and even on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. It’s a feel-good kind of place, and don’t we all need that? Drop by and take a look!
