The charming shop welcomes browsers, shopping, or serious discussion of decorating plans for an important event.

“Ebullient” is a word that describes Sarah Parlos, the new owner of Pentimento, the floral shop on South Main Street. The word means, “cheerful and full of energy.” This was the clear impression I had during our recent interview.

As owner of another floral design business in Avon,  Sarah  has both  design experience and business savvy.    Nevertheless she plans to maintain the same ambience with which customers are acquainted.

Former owners Paula Gallo and her sister Tamara Pezzente, were able to spend time with Sarah, describing the vendors used, accompanying her on a weekly trip to the Boston Flower Market for the very best blooms, and demonstrating the special and unique floral style for which Pentimento has been known.

Pentimento’s new owner, Sarah Parlos, pictured here with white roses, intends to maintain the special spirit of the South Main Street shop.

It is Sarah’s intention to emulate “the Pentimento Way,” as she takes the reins of this well-established reputable business. The shop’s front area has always exuded a French flair. It was, and will be, full of “objets d’art” — French soaps, candles, baskets, new eclectic pieces, and, of course, lovely plants and blooms.

Sarah hopes to “give back” in various ways to the former owners and townspeople by the quality of flowers and the highest quality of service.

Readers should be aware that Pentimento will be open for Valentine’s Day this year: on February 12, 13, and 14, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., selling beautiful and unexpected blooms in fresh arrangements, wrapped flowers, plants, as well as fine chocolates and Valentine Day cards. The shop will also be open for all major holidays for gift-giving.

And the traditional Pentimento sign will be out front beckoning us in for all special shopping days!
