Troop 66 Summer Camp

In July, Troop 66 went to summer camp at Camp Mattattuck where some kids from Troop 260 joined us. All the scouts got to work on getting merit badges. Some merit badges scouts worked on include kayaking, environmental science, sculpting and movie making. We also got to do other activities like swimming, archery, fishing and more.There was also a special challenge for us to do. We had a chance to join Captain Jordan Beard’s yacht club and get a patch by doing various things like catching a fish, sailing in a rowboat or finding a geocache in camp, etc.

Many described it as the perfect day for golf. The weather was superb as eighteen teams, and more than ninety players, participated in the 34 Annual Glenn T. Packard Golf tournament.

Local Farmer and Garden Club Team Up to Bring Cheer to Suffield House ResidentsFor many years, volunteers from the Suffield Garden Club have met with residents of local nursing homes and assisted living facilities to create colorful flower arrangements together. Garden Therapy Director Sally Peters assists Suffield House residents with flower arranging.All Photos by Lisa Parker

Volunteers help participants arrange flowers into fresh bouquets that they can bring back to their rooms or put on their dining tables. “This is one of our most popular programs,” commented Suffield House Director Scott Emmons. “Residents look forward to it all week long!”
