The Friends of Suffield boosted community service recently when the group awarded its 2019 financial grants to several local organizations.
The Friends of Suffield’s “Welcome Spring” egg hunt and bunny visit on April 6 at Spaulding School brought baskets full of joy to local kids and their families. In addition to visiting the Bunny, little ones searched for treat-filled eggs, got to meet – and pet – a couple of real bunnies, enjoyed spring-themed games and much more.
Cupid’s arrows will fly for the 32nd year in a row, as the Friends of Suffield organization again hosts its popular Senior Valentine Social for local seniors. This year’s “sweet” event will feature a delicious lasagna dinner, with all the tasty trimmings – along with bingo, door prizes and the traditional crowning of the King and Queen.
Suffield seniors are invited to join the festivities on Saturday, February 9, from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Suffield Senior Center on Bridge Street.
You better watch out, you better not pout… Santa Claus is comin’ to town. And if you’d like Santa to stop by your home, the Friends of Suffield can arrange it.
Local community service got “a shot in the arm” on May 8 at the Suffield Senior Center when the Friends of Suffield presented several local organizations with grants to fund their activities in 2018. Representatives from groups across town—ranging from Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts to the Crossroads Food Pantry and Emergency Aid Association—took part in a brief awards ceremony to accept their checks and pose for a photo.
It’s known by Suffield residents as “the event” that signals the farewell to summer and the unofficial start of fall.
