On October 16 at 6:30 p.m in the Suffield High School auditorium, the results of a Youth Assessment Survey (YAS) conducted for students in grades 7-12 will be presented by Christine Miskell of the Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC).
As everyone is aware from news reports and social media there is a growing problem with substance abuse, and heroin use in particular, throughout the United States, in Connecticut, and yes, in Suffield.

In support of our goals to increase substance abuse awareness in the Suffield community and to provide information on prevention and available help resources, the Suffield Local Prevention Council (SLPC) will sponsor a Public Forum on March 30 at 7 p.m. in the Suffield Middle School auditorium.
On November 17th the Suffield Local Prevention Council (SLPC) sponsored a Public Forum that was attended by more than 150 Suffield residents, who heard substance abuse concerns from local law enforcement and medical perspectives.
The mission of the Suffield Local Prevention Council (SLPC) is to have members of the Suffield community, who have the shared goal of increasing substance abuse awareness, working together to provide information on prevention and available help resources while supporting a stigma free vision of addiction as an illness.
The Suffield Local Prevention Council continues to work toward promoting substance abuse prevention and early intervention within the Suffield community, and to provide a forum bringing together multiple community disciplines.
The Suffield Local Prevention Council (SLPC) was formed in March of this year and is made up of volunteer community members, educators, law enforcement personnel, medical personnel, town employees, parents and concerned citizens.
