For some, 2017 has been a tough year, a polarizing year, when conversations were difficult among neighbors, strangers and families.
In 1931, The New York Times began a list of bestselling books sold only in New York City. Soon the list tracked book sales in 8 cities, then 14, and in the 1940’s, it leapt to 22, the same number as today.
Sometimes, I wear a shirt with “Sh-h-h-h” written on it. It gets a smirk or two when people realize I am a librarian.
