Four new native trees were planted on the Town greens by the Suffield Garden Club this summer. The two sugar maples, an oak, and a crabapple tree were paid for with a grant from the Deupree Family Foundation in honor of former club member Nikki Deupree.
The winning ticket is #3052 and the winner of the all-new 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 truck is Suffield resident Greg Honey. Greg purchased his ticket earlier this summer at the Suffield Farmers Market. The raffle drawing was held Sunday, September 8, during Suffield on the Green, the annual town fair. The truck raffle was conceived of by the Suffield 350th Anniversary Committee to help offset the costs of more than 30 events, programs and projects being planned for the commemoration of Suffield’s big birthday in October 2020. Joe Artioli of Artioli Chrysler Dodge RAM provided the truck which has been displayed around town throughout the summer.
As part of the year-long 350th Anniversary Celebration, the Kent Memorial Library is sponsoring an essay contest in four different age categories for Suffield residents, non-resident students in the Suffield public schools, or students at the Suffield Academy.
The owners of Feather & Bloom celebrated one year in business at their location in the former CVS Plaza on Mountain Road. The week-long celebration ended with a dog rescue event in collaboration with Save All Dogs Rescue, a Manchester non-profit. By day’s end, seven rescue dogs had found their forever homes. The event also featured some of the local artisans who create and sell at Feather & Bloom. Christine MacClintic of Loving Faces was there to showcase her dog portraits and auction off a portrait, with 100% of the proceeds going to Save All Dogs Rescue.
