I would like to begin by recognizing the community’s efforts in ensuring the well-being of residents in the face of the health crisis we are currently facing.

The annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held virtually this year due to COVID-19. A video of the ceremony will be posted at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 25th in order to honor and remember our fallen servicemen and women as best we can during these difficult times.

To date, the Health Department confirmed 92 COVID-19 cases and 17 related deaths in Suffield.
While adults in our community have alternated recently between worry over the health of our loved ones and ourselves, our job security, homeschooling our children, the food security of our friends and neighbors, and the need to support our local businesses, we’ve also understandably grieved some of the things we planned and looked forward to prior to a pandemic: vacations, holidays, weddings, milestones for our high school seniors, such as a definite graduation celebration.
Times have gotten hard for everyone, and Enfield Loaves & Fishes announced that it has seen an unprecedented demand for meals amid the coronavirus pandemic and the economic shutdown that has accompanied it.
Lettered on this East Street Tobacco parade float is “THE CROP THAT MADE EAST STREET FAMOUS.” The float may have been part of the Suffield Quartermillennial anniversary parade in 1920, but it might have been prepared for one of the Suffield Agricultural Fair parades some years earlier.
On March 27, Congress voted unanimously to pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide an historic infusion of resources to families, workers, small businesses, and others impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Coronavirus outbreak has so far claimed over 45,000 American lives.
