Tax Deferment Offered to Suffield Residents Affected by COVID-19

On April 22, 2020, the Board of Selectmen adopted the Governor’s Tax Deferment program to provide relief to taxpayers during the covid-19 crisis. The program, created by Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 7s, provides a three-month grace period to those taxpayers adversely affected by the pandemic.

How Social Distancing is Affecting Young People in Suffield

Most young people from Suffield have found themselves enduring a demanding schedule during this school year without much time for any leisure. Many of those in high school are diligently balancing their considerable academic course loads with sports and fine arts commitments, and for some, even a job that eats up their extra free time.

New Eagle Scout Honored

On Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the 15th Annual Matianuck District Scouter Recognition Dinner of the Connecticut Rivers Council Boy Scouts of America, Evan Mankouski was awarded the 2019 Emil Huyghebaert Eagle Scout of the Year Award. The Matianuck District is comprised of 12 towns including Suffield and 53 scouting units. Evan obtained his Eagle Scout from Troop 260 of Suffield in February 2019. His Eagle Scout project was constructing a GaGa Dodgeball Pit at Sunrise Park in West Suffield.  The court provides an alternative activity for scouters, visitors and campers to enjoy a contained dodgeball court. GaGa Dodgeball Pits have increased in popularity at camps, playgrounds, schools and parks.
