A big SHOUT-OUT to our emergency responders – especially the Highway Department – for extraordinary efforts during Tropical Storm Isaias to reopen roads and aid in restoring power. For seven days straight, they got the job done. Thank you!
In light of recent events taking place across our nation, a number of courageous residents opened up to me to share their experiences about what it’s like to be a person of color and live, work and raise families in the Town of Suffield.
After recent difficult months, I am delighted to share great news! The Town Hall project will break ground in July, at a total cost of $5.116M.
I struggled this month. What is the right topic and tone during this “new normal” with worry high and residents tackling work, home, family, financial and health issues all at once?
At The Suffield Observer press deadline, the Town of Suffield, Permanent Building Commission and our construction partners were busy at work ironing out the final details for the Town Hall renovation.
Happy New Year Suffield! To-date, the Town is one month into 2020 with one Town Meeting and referendum already completed, and departments and the schools knee-deep in budget season.

I find it helpful every election cycle to reflect on the prior year and ask, why am I doing this job and what do I want to accomplish? The answer is always simple – to improve Suffield’s governance practices as best I can.
Fall is my favorite season! Although shorter days, the air is crisp and scented with pumpkin spice, kiddos return to routines and Sundays are for family and football!
It is with mixed feelings that I write this column with the passing of another enjoyable Suffield summer; sad to see it end, but excited for fall’s upcoming activities!
I begin with a sincere apology. To all who made it a point on Memorial Day to attend the parade and ceremony as a heartfelt way to show your deep gratitude to our fallen servicemen; and in particular to our honored veterans; I am sorry for the poor sound system that left many unable to hear the meaningful speeches given.
