Observer Scholarships Available

The Suffield Observer will sponsor two scholarships to Suffield residents who will be entering an accredited two-or four-year college in September. The scholarships honor Samuel S. Fuller, founder of the paper, and Robert O. Y. Warren, a former Chairman of the Board.

SWC Annual Meeting

Suffield Woman’s Club (SWC) is delighted to be back together again on May 11 for their annual meeting and luncheon at 11 a.m. at Father Ted Hall. Come meet friends, old and new.

Tag Sale Slated for July

The West Suffield Village Improvement Association’s annual tag sale at Academy Hall is currently planned for July. Keep an eye on the Observer for a final date.

Suffield Rotary Perseveres During the Pandemic

Suffield Rotarians are inherently social creatures and enjoy meeting regularly to break bread with their colleagues. We initially learned that 2020 would be a much different type of year in mid-March 2020, when we were notified that all visitors were banned from entering Suffield by the River, where we were holding our dinner meetings at the time.

Duke’s Canteen

Landry-Sic VFW Post 9544 on Sheldon Street, closed for a long period because of the COVID-19 pandemic, reopened in March, and on March 20 a special ceremony was held. A dozen and a half hard-working volunteers had labored hard for several months, not only to clean up the dust and debris that accumulates in a closed building, but to make some long-needed repairs and freshening.

“Klondike,” Troop 66 Style

Troop 66 has done several exciting events over the past few months. Usually, troops from all over Connecticut get together to have a big competition called the Klondike Derby.
