Star Award goes to Craig Cooke

Craig Cooke, a Suffield resident, has been named the 2019 Outstanding School Superintendent by the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education Alumni Board. Cooke was recognized on March 16 at the Neag School’s 21st Annual Alumni Awards Celebration in Storrs, Conn.

When Donna Sue Groves decided to honor her Mother Maxine by painting a big quilt block on their Ohio tobacco barn, she did not realize she was starting a movement! Today barn quilt “trails” are found across all 50 states and Canada!

Brooks’ New Home

Brooks, abandoned in Stony Brooke Park in February, has made a full recovery and has been adopted by Bill and Pamela Gaines of Enfield. We are delighted that Brooks has a new family! The investigation into who abandoned Brooks is continuing.

Survivor Journeys Host 2nd Annual Cancer Survivorship Workshop

Survivor Journeys, a community based support network of professionals who provide free services to cancer survivors and caregivers in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, is hosting its second annual workshop on Saturday June 8, at Max’s Tavern Conference Room in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

Looking forward to May, we have another Study With a Puppy session May 7 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Youth Center on Bridge Street. Teens grades 6-12 can come for pizza, study time, a bit of recreation and some pet therapy, thanks to Healers with Halos.
