A notable politician visited Suffield the other day to view our 350th drive-by parade. Unfortunately, while he had the right spot for a good view, he had been told the wrong date.

Suffield Academy Reduces Food Waste

The United States Department of Agriculture estimates that Americans produce approximately one pound of food waste every day; this is equal to approximately four McDonald’s Quarter Pounders. Food scraps are the number one item found in landfills, and with such a large percentage of that waste being biodegradable, extremely high levels of methane gas and carbon dioxide are released, trapping heat in our atmosphere and contributing to global warming.

Talented Art Teacher on TV

Lynda Montefusco and her school, A Touch of Color, were featured with a short video on February 16 in the Small Business Spotlight segment of WFSB’s afternoon newscast. Roving reporter Caitlin Francis and her videographer had visited for an hour during Lynda’s three-hour morning class on February 4.

VFW Post Reopens

We are approaching the one year mark since COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, closures and restrictions began. The Landry-Sic VFW Post 9544 canteen closed its doors in mid-March 2020 with the hope to re-open sooner rather than later.

Durable Demonstrators

ABAR Suffield holds its last weekly BLACK LIVES MATTER demonstration for the season. It was late November, with a stalwart group surviving the nippy weather.
