With the holiday season right around the corner, the next three meetings of the Polish Heritage Society (PHS) will highlight Christmas and New Year traditions. The gatherings are open to anyone interested in learning about, preserving, and perpetuating the culture that was passed on from our Polish ancestors.
Remember that sand pit story about citizens’ action out by South Pond? Troubled residents got together in 2014 to stop a dormant sand pit operation on Lake Road from reopening.
The Suffield Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, November 20 at 7 p.m., back at the Kent Memorial Library, after five years at the Senior Center.
Since colonial times our quintessential New England town has produced sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves beyond the town’s boundaries. In more recent times, as part of its mission to promote excellence in the Suffield Public Schools and pride in the town, the Suffield Foundation for Excellent Schools (SFES) is soliciting nominations for the Suffield High School Hall of Honor.
As time marches on, bits and pieces of grass and weeds die and collect just above the soil. This is called thatch.
The Club will deliver 5-gallon buckets of sand/salt mixture for winter use to seniors and disabled individuals and families residing in Suffield and West Suffield. Registration is required before mid-November.
During the first week of December, the staff and friends of the Phelps-Hatheway House will begin to deck the halls for a very special holiday season in our historic setting.
Source to Sea was held on September 28 this year. It is a day designated for volunteers to gather and participate in the regional event to remove trash from the Connecticut River.
