Get Your Scholarships Here!

The Suffield Observer will sponsor two scholarships to Suffield residents who will be entering an accredited two-or four-year college in September. The scholarships honor Samuel S. Fuller, founder of the paper, and Robert O. Y. Warren, a former Chairman of the Board.

Prominent Suffield Contributors

Long-time Suffield residents, Warren Packard and Blair Childs, are two of many who volunteered their time and experience to the betterment of the town. They have so much in common: devotion to family, determination to help this town in any way possible, lots of energy, intelligence and integrity.

For the Greater Good

I remember as a kid reading JFK’s Profiles in Courage, a collection of stories about eight United States senators who showed courage in the face of great personal detriment by doing the right thing. Virtually all of them paid the price by losing their seats in Congress but maintained throughout their lives that, in John Quincy Adams’ words, “Private interest must not be put in opposition to the public good.”

March Commission Meetings

Local Business Adds Solar Array

A substantial solar array, pictured last fall, was completed last year by Designs for Health behind their distribution warehouse on South Street, across from the new brew-pub.

Town Hall Almost Ready

There were a few things yet to do, but they weren’t expected to interfere with Town departments moving back into the renovated Town Hall after the furniture is delivered. At the January 21 Permanent Building Commission (PBC) meeting, there was a general feeling of satisfaction, and the Certificate of Acceptance by the Building Inspector was expected soon after.
