Fixing the air conditioning problem at the Kent Memorial Library described in last month’s report has been frustratingly slow.
Considerable progress has been made on the new Tennessee Gas pipeline through town toward its scheduled completion this fall.
The long-drawn-out work to renovate the town library and make it more accessible has become particularly frustrating.
In the two months since the Observer’s first report, gas pipeline work has been active throughout its 6.7 miles in Suffield, plus a short stretch from the Agawam compressor station just over the town line and another to the construction pipeyard near the airport in East Granby.
Recognizing that many residents of the South Pond region were interested in what would be happening to Lake Road, First Selectman Melissa Mack invited the proprietors of Lake Road Materials to attend a public meeting and describe their plans.
With the threatened rain only a few sprinkles, the crowd of supporters gathered at the Suffield Middle School track on Saturday morning, June 3 to help fund the American Cancer Society’s fight for a world without cancer.
A threatening weather forecast led to the disappointing cancellation of Suffield’s traditional Memorial Day parade.
At this writing the library renovation and addition project, which has been concentrating on PCB remediation for many months, has not been discussed by the Permanent Building Commission since May 4, and that discussion was brief.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission gave its approval on April 12 for construction of Kinder Morgan’s Connecticut Expansion Project, and work began in Suffield in early May.
