Superintendent’s Update

The Superintendent’s FY2021 Budget Recommendation was presented to the Suffield Board of Education at its December 5, 2019 meeting. The $36,509,475 proposal was a 2.71% increase over the 2019-2020 budget of $35,547,870.

Suffield High School’s Kindness Crew

Since cancer has affected many of our lives, The Kindness Crew decided that working with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute along with the Jimmy Fund, would be the best possible choice to raise and donate as much as we can for cancer research.

New Musical Premiers at SHS

On December 5, 6, and 7, Suffield High School’s Drama Club had the rare opportunity not only to be part of a play’s premier, but also to work with the play’s author and director, Carl Casinghino, one of SHS’s great teachers.

Suffield Native Nominated for Academy Award

Suffield native Greg Butler was just nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his work on “1917.” The film is nominated in a total of 10 categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography.

Allagash, Maine Scout Adventures

I am a Life Scout in Troop 260, Suffield, Connecticut. I am working on my Communications Merit Badge and would like to tell you about a trip that our Troop takes every other year, that I have been fortunate enough to have gone on twice now.

Suffield Winter Farmer’s Market

The Suffield Winter Farmers Market’s last event for the season will be February 8 and we are teaming up again with the Agriscience program. 

This Winter Market will be held indoors at the Large Animal Facility (LAF) in the northeast corner of the high school parking lot (behind the green house) at 1060 Sheldon Street in West Suffield. This means shoppers and vendors can do business in a great area with easy access and parking.

MLK, Jr. Remembered

Guest preacher at this year’s Martin Luther, Jr., Day observance January 19 at Third Baptist Church was the Rev. Dr. Jeff Powell, of the New Antioch Baptist Church in Hartford, shown above in Suffield. The service was wonderfully musical and moving, and Dr. Powell delivered a powerful message.
