Observer 25th Anniversary Celebration

Photos by Ron Kirschbaum and Ginny Bromage

On April 21, the Observer volunteers gathered at Oak Ridge Country Club to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the paper. Jay Presser, emcee, welcomed everyone and recognized the four volunteers who were at the first group photo 25 years ago: Lester Smith, Carol Martin, Sally Peters and Eileen Moncrief. The Observer volunteers are keeping Sam’s dream alive! See if you can identify all the volunteers in this photo. Jay asked Abby Wolcott to reflect for us on her father’s initial thoughts on creating The Suffield Observer.

Come Join Us for An Evening to RememberSuffield’s Beauty brought to life by the art of Peggy MacKinnon

We are excited to announce that we are planning a special art exhibit at Kent Memorial Library of Peggy MacKinnon’s oil paintings. It is scheduled for the month of August in the gallery at the library. We are pleased to note that we have approximately 15 framed oil paintings (Main Street, Suffield farms, etc.), that were displayed in Peggy’s home, for sale. We also have approximately 40 to 50 unfinished oil paintings (unframed) to sell. We would welcome donations of any of Peggy’s work from local residents for display only or for sale, if desired.
