The Suffield Observer (https://thesuffieldobserver.com/author/webmaster/page/98/)
On December 3 and 4 the fifth-grade students got a visit from the staff at The Suffield Observer. The fifth-grade teachers asked the Observer to talk to the students as part of their journalism unit. Do you ever struggle to think of an idea to write about? Well, students also struggle sometimes, and the staff at the Observer opened up their presentation by explaining how they get ideas for articles. Another thing they talked to us about is that your facts need to be true because you don’t want people to get false information.
While encouraging people to be grateful is great, being grateful together is much more powerful and effective. When we collaborate with loved ones or friends, it benefits everyone.

Warm up with Winter Reading: Children and Teens Winter Reading Program at Kent Memorial Library
A careful reproduction of the 1869 Baker & Tilden Atlas map of Suffield has been pubished on fine, archival paper for sale by the 350th Committee. The map shows homes, schools, churches and businesses, along with owner’s names (not necessarily the residents). The 11 school districts are shown with various pastel colors. Of the map’s two printed versions, this one shows the planned route of the Suffield branch line railroad from Windsor Locks, but not quite where it was built the following year. Sale locations are listed at the right.
Enfield Loaves and Fishes serves 100 thousand meals every year and relies only on community support to continue operating. Enfield Loaves and Fishes, the town’s only soup kitchen, announced today that it is seeking donations from the community to continue its operations as 2019 draws to a close.
