The Suffield Woman’s Club (SWC) is pleased to offer the Thea Coburn Scholarship to any college or university student from Suffield, Granby, East Granby, Windsor Locks or Enfield, or who is a graduate of the Agri-Science Center in Suffield. The applicant must have completed at least one year of higher education, and is open to men and women.
On Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, the Friends of the Farm at Hilltop and the Kent Memorial Library will sponsor Forgotten Farms, a documentary.
Suffield’s own Lisa Parker has written several new plays being showcased at the next Suffield Players “Page-to-Stage” reading, produced in cooperation with Kent Memorial Library. Ordinary People – An Evening of New One-Act Plays will perform at The Suffield Senior Center, 145 Bridge Street in Suffield, on April 18 at 7 p.m. The performance is free, and open to the public.
Come join the Suffield Rotary Club for some fun, some food, and yes… some wine, infused liquors, hors d’oeuvres, food tables, and a raffle. Hosted at Suffield by the River on Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m., funds raised from the event will be used primarily for scholarships for Suffield students and other community-based projects.
This was not the first time that Boy Scout Troop 260 has had several Eagle Scouts in the same family, but the Court of Honor on February 26 was the first time the brothers were awarded in the same ceremony. Michael Sattan and Stephen Sattan both received their coveted awards that evening, with a packed Fellowship Hall at Second Baptist to applaud.
Spring has sprung, so it’s time for the annual tag sale run by the West Suffield Village Improvement Assn. on April 6 from 9 a.m.to 2 p.m. at Academy Hall (1499 Mountain Road).
Identity thefts and scams are rampant in Suffield. The Suffield Police report that they receive calls concerning identity theft and scams at least once a day.
We have had an exciting winter season at Suffield Park and Recreation! Our efforts to bring programs that are more diverse to Suffield, and its residents, are gaining traction with full classes in a wide range of program categories including: adult fitness and wellness, youth arts and crafts, youth fitness, STEAM enrichment programs, self-defense and pre-school and adult sports.
