A notable politician visited Suffield the other day to view our 350th drive-by parade. Unfortunately, while he had the right spot for a good view, he had been told the wrong date.
Lynda Montefusco and her school, A Touch of Color, were featured with a short video on February 16 in the Small Business Spotlight segment of WFSB’s afternoon newscast. Roving reporter Caitlin Francis and her videographer had visited for an hour during Lynda’s three-hour morning class on February 4.
The Suffield 350th Anniversary Parade Committee has begun to sign up participants, organizations and floats for the Saturday, October 9 event.
This article is a tribute to the Kozikowski Family that started on East Street and ultimately made a notable contribution to the town. It is the first in a series that will introduce some of the Polish immigrants that started as many as five generations of Polish Americans that now call Suffield, “home.”

This late-forties view looks east up the north side of Depot Street (now Mountain Road) from a spot near the foot of the hill. Prominent at the left is Bill Cusick’s Depot Street Service Station, with its big GULF sign at the right with a sign offering clean rest rooms. To the left of the two garage bays is an older store front, where Cusick sold ice cream and diverse merchandise.
SCA staff is assisting CDC-eligible, older residents in exploring their options for obtaining COVID-19 vaccine. Priority is given to those residents age 75+ and/or who do not have access to a computer.
