This year the winter weather has been fluctuating back and forth between temperate/sunny and extremely cold/stormy. It is important to observe some important safety concerns during these times of daily or hourly weather changes. Consider the following:
If your power goes out and you need temporary lighting, try to use battery powered devices over the use of candles. If you must use candles, be sure to use a proper candle holder, keep lit candles at least 12 inches away from anything that can burn, keep pets and children away from the candle, and extinguish the candle when leaving the room.Whenever going outdoors or in a vehicle during winter weather be sure to wear (or bring) a hat, scarf, coat, gloves, socks and shoes or boots. If you have a cell phone, keep it on your person.
