Suffield on the Green is seen as the unofficial end of the summer event. It provides Suffield residents with a fun time to get to know their community. For those of you new to town, it’s a great way to meet new people and learn more about Suffield while having a fun time. Saturday

The event always takes place on the Town Greens in the center of town the weekend after Labor Day. This year it is Saturday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hosted by the Friends of Suffield, the annual event features booths by local businesses and organizations like Scouts, religious groups, emergency services and more.
As part of the year-long 350th Anniversary Celebration which kicks off this October, the Kent Memorial Library is sponsoring an essay contest. The theme of the essay is Suffield: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Essays must be under 500 words long. Participants have free rein on how to utilize the theme in their essay. The form of the essay can be a memoir, an historical piece, or science fiction if the period chosen is Suffield in the future.
Suffield’s 350th Anniversary Committee is hard at work raising money to pay for our town’s birthday celebration in 2020. We have been selling tee shirts and ball caps, and we’re hosting a golf outing and a beer tasting, but our biggest fundraiser by far is the truck raffle that will be held at Suffield on the Green at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. We need your help to make it a success! Truck raffle tickets are $20 each and no more than 4,000 tickets will be sold. Those are pretty good odds!
