We thought you might find it helpful to understand the process we undertook to produce the Voter’s Guide. To begin, we drafted questions for the candidates based on information we thought would be helpful for voters to know and then sought input from directors of some of the organizations.
The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted American women the right to vote and was ratified on August 18, 1920, ending almost a century of protest. Courageous and determined women picketed repeatedly in front of the White House, despite a wholly unsympathetic Woodrow Wilson.
To celebrate the Life of Astrid T. Hanzalek, a reception will be held on Sunday, September 29, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 at The Phelps-Hatheway House Barn, 55 South Main Street, Suffield.
For nearly twenty years Art Groux has been taking care of Suffield. A paramedic, he began serving the town as a volunteer on Martin Luther King Day in 2000. With a bachelor’s degree in emergency management services, Art became Chief of Services at the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association.
“I just love my job,” beamed Erin Shea, Suffield’s Teacher of the Year. “I have great kids to work with, and caring parents and a supportive staff at Suffield High School. Besides that, I have an understanding husband, Tim, who teaches at Suffield High School.”

The community of Suffield should be thankful to Jackie Hemond, Library Director, and her library staff. With the Kent Memorial Library closed for almost five years, they managed to provide services to our residents through an undersized temporary building on Fyler Place.
