Sustainable Suffield, a teacher- and student-led grassroots organization dedicated to bringing attention to our role in solving the world’s most challenging climate-related issues, and Suffield High School are proud to announce Walk to the Hart of Climate Change, a three-day event featuring National Geographic Explorer Dr. John Francis and organized by 2018 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and National Geographic Certified Educator Justin Kaput.
In February, thirteen SHS students traversed the entire country of Peru having the opportunity to explore many aspects and settings of Peruvian life: the urban setting in Lima, ancient civilizations and communities in Cuzco, and the various island locations around Puno.
February concluded our youth basketball season with Suffield Parks and Recreation. As my first season of basketball comes to a close, I am very thankful to be able to have worked with so many dedicated volunteers, staff and coaches.
The Hartford Business Journal teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state’s top 41 employers. Companies named Best Places to Work in Connecticut for 2020 were divided into 14 large companies and 27 small or medium companies by the number of people they employ in Connecticut.
In 1999, Suffield through its Planning & Zoning and Conservation Commissions established a 10-year goal to preserve 55% of the Towns residentially zoned land as open space, or 13,445 acres.
BrightStar Care, whose motto is “A Higher Standard of Home Care,” has moved to Suffield. After a decade in Windsor Locks, Suffield resident Heidi Partain moved the franchise in December into new quarters in the Webster Bank building on North Main Street.
There are several voting options available for Suffield’s voters. Absentee ballot voting options available to eligible voters are 1) regular absentee balloting, 2) supervised absentee balloting, 3) emergency absentee balloting and 4) permanently physically disabled absentee ballot processing.
The April issue of the Suffield Observer will only be available online so that we could comply with good health practices and protect the health of our volunteers, limiting direct contact between people. Whereas the print edition requires that many volunteers work together in close quarters, a skeleton Observer crew has prepared the submissions for this issue, much which can be done remotely.
