Last year the Town was unable to have its standard in-person public hearing and subsequent town meeting to vote on the budget. This was due to the pandemic and Governor’s executive action requiring a virtual public hearing and Board of Finance (BOF) setting of the budget under authorization of the Board of Selectmen.
When everything shut down in March 2020 due to concerns about COVID-19 and its effects, many scheduled events were cancelled. Sporting events, concerts, church services, holiday gatherings and the like were put on hold.
After a long winter, Suffield Parks and Recreation is excited to be offering a variety of programming for various ages this spring! From tee ball to tennis, and e-sports to Lego, there is something fun for everyone. Register early as enrollment is limited.

Suffield Parks and Recreation expands its recreational opportunities with the addition of eSports programs. eSports engages video gamers to compete against each other in organized virtual leagues and in-person tournaments.
During the demolition of Bridge Street School several weeks ago, many townspeople expressed their sadness, and sometimes their anger, that the old school was being demolished. But on February 19 it was reported to the Suffield Police that someone had taken action: the old sign out front was missing.
Preparations for the long-anticipated move into the renovated Town Hall continue, but even when the move is complete, “normality” will probably not arrive for a while. The Town’s appropriately cautious concern about COVID-19 will still be with us. Human Resources Manager Karin Ziemba advises that, as of now, no Town employees are working from home.

Suffield is truly fortunate to have such a great quantity of open space set aside for public use. Likewise, the town has been active in the preservation of farmland, making Suffield second in the state in terms of preserved farm acreage.
