It’s been a long haul, if you count all the early discussions of new office layouts or new building designs, but the continuing need for improved quarters for the Town Hall staff persisted, and the happy end of the struggle has arrived.

Sunrise Park Playground Celebrated

Over 40 interested folks gathered at Sunrise Park on Saturday morning, May 8, to celebrate the opening of a new nature-theme playground next to the parking area by White’s Pond and the Rotary Pavilion – the heart of the big mountainside park.

Dog License Renewals

The 2021-2022 Dog license renewal will be available for purchase as of June 1, 2021. Residents are encouraged to renew licenses online or by mail to support social distance requirements.

Suffield Trivia

Early in his career, Asher Benjamin designed a doorway at a Suffield house. He became a noted architect and author of seven books on architectural design (the first American to publish such a book) which greatly influenced the look of buildings throughout New England until the start of the Civil War.

Power Line Work Is Dangerous

Four linemen in two high-lift bucket trucks install interconnecting loops on the electrical cables of one of the old lattice towers in preparation for transferring the cables to one of the new monopole towers close by at this corner just east of North Stone Street.

2021/22 Town Budget Update

Last year the Town was unable to have its standard in-person public hearing and subsequent town meeting to vote on the budget. This was due to the pandemic and Governor’s executive action requiring a virtual public hearing and Board of Finance (BOF) setting of the budget under authorization of the Board of Selectmen.
