A Close Count Recount was scheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 18 in the Middle School Gym.
Due to COVID-19 voters were requested to practice social distancing, wear face masks and sanitize their hands at the polls to help ensure the safety of others. Every voter entering the polls respected the first two requests and most the third.
A big SHOUT-OUT to our emergency responders – especially the Highway Department – for extraordinary efforts during Tropical Storm Isaias to reopen roads and aid in restoring power. For seven days straight, they got the job done. Thank you!

On April 7, dozens of voters in Wisconsin contracted COVID-19 when they voted in-person. On November 3, CT residents may risk that outcome.
In February 2020, most Suffield students had found themselves continuing to endure a busy and demanding schedule, on track to finish the school year strong; however, Covid-19 suddenly put the year on pause, instilling boredom, fear and loneliness in many.
The brief, severe, spotty wind storm that hit the western part of Connecticut on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 4, was just about everything it was forecast to be when Tropical Storm Isaias passed by on its way north. Everything, that is, but rain, and that’s something we really needed — there were only a few sprinkles.
Social distancing is anything but a new protocol for long-haul truck drivers, we’ve been doing it for decades. In fact, working alone is what brings some people to the job.

A waitress serves a couple in one of the tables that Zantos restaurant set out at the end of June, adding that popular spot to the local outdoor dining opportunities reported in last month’s Observer.
Look closely. This climber from Ricky’s Tree Service has worked his way high up a tree on North Main Street. Certainly good social distancing!
New Yorker David Moradi, a third degree black belt Tae Kwon Do master, has been teaching martial arts for 16 years and has now opened his second studio.
The sidewalks certainly are busy these days. This bear is loping past the Phelps-Hatheway barn on South Main Street.
Get your furry friends ready, as the Friends of Suffield will be hosting the 19th Annual Canine Contest this summer!
