Suffield’s Farmers Market begins its 2022 summer season on Saturday, June 18.
The Assessor’s Office would like to remind elderly and disabled homeowners that the filing period for the state and local benefit program will end on Friday, May 13. Any current recipient of the benefit who has
received a letter from the Assessor’s office must reapply no later than
May 13 in order to continue to receive the benefit. New applicants must also file an application by that date. This year’s maximum income allowed is $38,100 if single and $46,400 if married. Proof of income for 2021 is needed.
The Veterans Memorial Phase 1 Expansion Committee was created in September 2021, with a mission to expand the honor roll in Suffield’s Veterans Park to include veterans from recent wars and conflicts, and to add those veterans who were not previously recognized when the existing memorial was dedicated in 2003.
Unless you had business with Northern Nurseries on Mountain Road in West Suffield, you might not have heard of Colin Moll before he burst on the scene, shortly after being nominated in October 2021 for First Selectman by the Republican party.
As of this writing, the Board of Finance has completed its review of various department budgets and capital requests in in order to propose the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022/23 budget for the Town Meeting on May 11.
Happy May, Suffield! The budget season is wrapping up. The Board of Finance has approved the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 budget with a slight decrease in the mill rate at 28.61. Town Meeting to approve the budget is on May 11.All are welcome. We will be using $2.1 million of our American Rescue Plan Funds on the following items this upcoming fiscal year:
$500,000 to insurance fund to replace COVID expenses incurred by the town$750,000 to replace Beneski Field$100,000 down-payment for a new tanker truck$650,000 for pavement management$100,000 for Youth Services to provide programming for our town’s youth that have been affected by COVID
The use of these funds was recommended by our American Rescue Plan Committee and approved by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance.
The Memorial Day ceremony and parade will be held on Monday, May 30!
