The Suffield Historical Society sponsored an online class during the months of October and November in order to prepare a Witness Stones Memorial for Tamar, who was an enslaved woman who lived at least eighteen years of her young life in Suffield from 1770-1798.
Construction crews have been busy at the Town Hall, inside and out, since the winter weather has not been bitterly cold. The renovation work is well along, and interior photos available on the Town website now clearly show what the spaces will look like.

Although production problems have slowed our date of delivery, the book, Suffield Stories From Another Half-Century – 1970-2020, one part of the town’s 350th anniversary celebration, is still available to pre-order on the 350th website. We hope the book will be available by the beginning of March.

The Assessor’s office administers the Elderly/Totally Disabled Homeowner’s program annually. This program will allow a credit on the June real estate tax bill to qualified taxpayers.
On November 14, when Governor Ned Lamont signed a significant new bill that had been approved by both houses of the state legislature in September, he brought his entourage to an old tobacco warehouse on South Grand Street for the ceremony. The bill, the first in the country, brings Connecticut state regulations concerning hemp growing and processing into compliance with federal law.

I’m writing in response to The First Selectman’s Update in the December 2020 – January 2021 edition, concerning the status of the Bridge Street School (BSS). To the thousands of children who had attended it throughout 80 years, there is a very meaningful lesson that was presented to students one generation after the next.
A carpool ride from Warehouse Point to Broad Brook to attend a CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) meeting was the beginning of a friendship for fourteen-year-olds Sandy Perham and Jim Mather. They dated through high school and married in 1963, and this special relationship has remained the same for these 58 years.
When Jordan Mazur graduated from Suffield High School in 2008, he knew he had an interest in health, nutrition and working out. A typical college freshman-not knowing exactly what he wanted to do-he thought he would explore this area at UConn.
