New: Spa 1670

Have you noticed Spa 1670 on Mountain Road? Located above Feather & Bloom Marketplace, it seems to coordinate well with that shopping venue.

Seven Rescue Dogs Find Homes

The owners of Feather & Bloom celebrated one year in business at their location in the former CVS Plaza on Mountain Road. The week-long celebration ended with a dog rescue event in collaboration with Save All Dogs Rescue, a Manchester non-profit. By day’s end, seven rescue dogs had found their forever homes. The event also featured some of the local artisans who create and sell at Feather & Bloom. Christine MacClintic of Loving Faces was there to showcase her dog portraits and auction off a portrait, with 100% of the proceeds going to Save All Dogs Rescue.

Downloaders Needed!

The Observer is in need of volunteers who have some basic computer knowledge to join our team of downloaders. The work time is flexible (usually no more than five to six hours per month) and training is provided.

Bark-N-Bubbles

When I opened the door, it felt like I had stepped inside a spa! The soft pink curtain and gray walls are accented with an aromatherapy machine, sending gentle waves of scent and a distinctly relaxed feeling.

Wings of Hope Benefit for Scott Flanagan

On Sunday, October 6, Wings of Hope, a fundraiser to help with costs associated with Scott Flanagan’s cancer treatments, will be held at St. Robert Hall, 52 Elm Street, Windsor Locks starting at 5 p.m.

Town Hall Planning Proceeds

At the Permanent Building Commission meeting on September 5, Angela Cahill, from QA&M Architects, reported that planning had neared the end of schematic design. The Gilbane representatives reported the present stage of cost estimating, which suggested a cost marginally within the $4.9 million available in the Town’s planning.

New Community Space Offered

A dedicated group of people at Second Baptist Church spent the summer transforming the Kneece Chapel into a space that is open to the community. The Common Room at Second Baptist now features a beautiful open floor plan great for everything from yoga to bridal showers. In the front of the room is a live edge credenza designed, built and donated by Made By LLC using a slab of Suffield-grown poplar donated by Sotil Tree Service as well as repurposed wood from a local tobacco barn and pews from the chapel. (The live edge credenza was designed and built using the amazing tools and workspace at Makerspace CT in Hartford.) Behind the credenza is a 100 inch state-of-the-art projector and audio system for educational events, presentations and movies. For the grand opening during Suffield on the Green, across the street, the Common Room served up free coffee house refreshments by the great folks from Story and Soil Coffee in Frog Hollow, Hartford.
